It's Masters Week, the first full week of April, marking the arrival of spring. This week is special for those of of us that love sports and sports traditions. Enjoying pimento cheese, a Southern delicacy, is essential while watching! There are many opinions on preferences, like sharpness of the cheese, Tobasco or Worshestshire, garlic salt or onion salt. However, when it comes to mayonnaise, there’s hardly any debate—only Duke's will do.
Here’s the pimento cheese I’m making this year. I truly hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
Block of sharp cheddar cheese grated on a box grater.
Duke’s Mayonnaise to taste. Less is better in my book.
7 shakes of onion powder.
4 shakes of salt.
5 splashes of Tabasco.
One tiny jar of pimentos drained well.
Mix all together. Refrigerate and enjoy chips, crackers or white bread sandwiches.
I selected the yellow background as a tribute to the Masters. Vineyard Silk Créme Brûlée and Custard are great yellows. Custard being the boldest of the two colors. I
t would be charming to stitch the year on the back of the ornament to commemorate you being a spectator at Augusta National.
I use needlepoint as a means to commemorate significant moments in my life all of the time, and I believe you do too.
It's the small details that hold great importance, both in life and in needlepoint.
